(Winston-Salem, NC) – Stratapult, a leading provider of web-enabled business solutions blocked the 'Slammer' virus that affected Fortune 100 corporations over the weekend from attacking its own system. According to CNN.com, the 'Slammer' virus attacked a known vulnerability in Microsoft's SQL Server database software, causing a server lockup followed by replication of the worm. Stratapult has over 25 servers with the software installed in its data center and supports SQL applications for its sister companies and clients.
Stratapult attributes the fact that the 'Slammer' virus didn't enter the system to its sound security architecture. "The enterprise firewalls we have deployed protect against any unauthorized ports which shut the 'Slammer' virus down before it could infiltrate," said David Cornelius, Corporate Security Administrator for Stratapult. "Stratapult is continually auditing systems and controls and deploys client products and websites behind leading technology application proxy firewalls."
